They lost a star......this place is just an extension of the local yocals back yard deck that is falling down and with a junk car in the side yard.  Service is poor, prices on the oysters are just crazy...$17 for 6 small oysters that were supposed to be pan fried.  Well, the person cooking does not know how to bread seafood:  step one dredge oysters through flour, then through eggs beaten well, then into the break crumbs.   This is how you get the crumbs to stick to the oyster.  Mine came out f'ing bald. They were ok, just not done correctly.  And the crowd there is....oh, whatever.  If you are at all normal/weird, you get looks from everyone there, including the wait staff.  We are probably done coming here.

Been coming here since I was a kid. It's always jam packed with people, especially on a weekend. Food has always been great here as well. I have tried their burgers and even chicken strips. The best thing is easily their oyster shooters though!
This place has more of a dive bar feel. They havent really updated it much in the 20 years I have been coming here but there have been some changes/improvements. This place is family friendly and also has many tables for large groups if needed. I'm not sure if you need to call ahead for large groups or not. I have been here for karaoke and they may have other things they do as well.

Locals dive & sportsbar. Burgers & oysters! Hard liquor, $2 Rolling Rock, daily drink specials, pulltabs gambling, Golden Tee, outside patio & NO minors allowed. Only place on the block open on Monday's to eat and drink. Friendly attentive staff. Good place to watch M's & Seahawks!

I had the Justin Burger that has grilled mushrooms, bacon, Swiss cheese, LT&O with the hand cut fries. Burger was so LARGE I couldn't finish the fries.

A blind guy, regular, came in & without ordering the server brought him a coke. Blind people know!

    I love dive bars!

I had one of the best bleu cheese burgers I've ever had, and my husband enjoyed his fried oysters.  Drinks were wonderful.  Why not a higher rating?  Merely because the smell of cigarette smoke was incredibly strong when we walked in into the bar - immediate turn-off.  The bartender and the cook/chef were very pleasant to talk with and super responsive.

We met a couple of friends here for a beer before heading to our dinner reservations.

Free street parking can be found. Discover is an accepted form of payment.

A nice outdoor seating area is available to enjoy during nice days. Indoors is a narrow "boxcar" railroad car which some may find challenging to seat a large group in.

Indoors was on the unkempt side. A slight film over everything. The roof above the kitchen leaked the whole time we were here.

Beer and wine options are extremely limited. We had to flag down a staff member in order to be serviced.

Menu items are typical sandwiches and burgers. The Boxcar's pride and joy appear to be their oysters; however, we didn't try any.

My wife and I each ordered a Mac & Jack and a Space Dust IPA for $4.50 (hh) each. My bestie ordered a glass of wine which was served in a rocks glass rather than a wineglass.

We also ordered the Cheese Sticks (qty 6) appetizer for $8.99.

Overall, I'm glad we stopped into the Boxcar. In the future I would like to enjoy a cold beer outside after browsing the local shops when the days warm up. I'm sure my impression will boost upwards if I'm seated outdoors rather than indoors.
